Citizen Machinery Europe GmbH is the European affiliated company of Citizen
Machinery Co., Ltd., Japan, a global leading manufacturer of sliding head lathes
and also company of the Citizen Holdings, Japan. Beside Japanese origins Citizen
Machinery Europe has as well as German roots, which are going straight to Boley
GmbH. Both individual companies, Boley as well as Citizen, have always stood
for tradition and innovation in the fields of lathes
1870
The Boley company has been founded in 1870 in the German town Esslingen on
the Neckar and soon has won a reputation for the production of lathes and automatic
lathes in this market. Boley machines have been sold throughout the world, not
least due to their high precision, combined with market-conforming and customized
solutions.
1970
Since 1970, Citizen has distributed sliding head lathes of the CINCOM brand
in Europe. The German and European markets have been provided with innovative
and efficient products, first from Brussels and from 1986 onwards from Filderstadt
near Stuttgart. The brand Citizen has been established as an authority in the
fields of lathes.
1992
In 1992, Citizen took over the company Boley GmbH as a 100% subsidiary. From
now on, two names - Boley and CINCOM - as well as two products complementing
each other - short-bed lathes and sliding head lathes - have guaranteed a successful
two-brand strategy.
2003
In 2003, the two companies have merged to Citizen Machinery & Boley GmbH
in order to reinforce the capabilities and strengths of the individual companies
- development and production, distribution and service - and to bundle these
capabilities under the roof of the mother company Citizen Watch Co., Ltd., Japan.
In Esslingen on the Neckar the products are developed, designed, produced, distributed
and serviced. Here, both short-bed lathes of the Boley brand and sliding head
lathes of the CINCOM brand are produced. We distribute all products in Germany
and all over Europe. Our distribution activities are not limited to the machines
produced on site but also include the whole CINCOM product range, even the machines
produced in Japan. Our services, like after sales and parts sale, are also offered
for all products.
2005
In April 2005, our parent company Citizen Watch Co., Ltd., Japan has adopted
the 10 basic principles of the UN Global Compact within the framework of its
Corporate Social Responsibility. Thus, as the subsidiary, we will also follow
these principles
As a partner of both the industry and the user we want to provide our customers
with safe high-quality products and services. Moreover, we see ourselves as
a part of the society, the values of which change considerably with the globalization
of companies - along with the consciousness of the customers. Therefore, our
activities are not limited to the supply of better products, the observation
of laws and rules, the striving for profitability and the dividend distribution
to stockholders. We have expanded our company activities to such fields like
environmental protection, information management, contributions to social life
and sociopolitics.
2007
In April 2007 Citizen Watch Co., Ltd. made a shift to a pure holding company
system. The CNC-lathes have been integrated into the business line: Industrial
machinery, and the development, production, sales and service of the products
have been global bundled in the hands of Citizen Machinery Co., Ltd., Japan.
By this, Citizen Machinery & Boley now is an affiliated company of Citizen
Machinery Co., Ltd., Japan.
Citizen Machinery Co., Ltd., Japan has formed an equity and business alliance
with Miyano Machinery Co., Japan; a top manufacturer of automatic lathes with
fixed headstock. This tie-up shall mainly strengthen the cooperation in marketing,
sales and service and at the other hand sharing and using effectively each property
and infrastructure. For the European markets Citizen Machinery & Boley shall
play the strategic part to realize the cooperation for sales and service.
2008
Citizen Machinery & Boley GmbH change into Citizen Machinery Europe GmbH.
Due to the global strategy of Citizen Machinery Co., Ltd., Japan, the European
business operation shall be reorganized. Citizen Machinery Europe shall mainly
take care for sales and service as well as for the realization of special customer
demanded applications. Target is to strengthen the market position of Citizen
in Germany as well as in the other European markets. Under the roof of Citizen
Machinery Europe parallel will be established a European Technical Centre for
development, design and used machine business.
